The Madison Masonic Learning Center for Children

The Madison Masonic Learning Center for Children provides free one-on-one tutoring to children with dyslexia at no cost to the children or their families. There are six tutoring rooms where seven certified tutors and three tutor trainees work with approximately 30 students on an individual basis. In 1994 Scottish Rite Masons launched a major effort to help families, individuals and communities deal with the lifelong burdens of dyslexia. With 45 centers in all 15 states of the Northern Jurisdiction, no other national charity has made such a commitment to the alleviation of the problems of learning disabilities. They have been able to realize effective results, both anecdotal and statistically. In Madison, 72 children have become independent, lifelong learners through this program.
